Blarney Pub and Grill

This place pretends to be an Irish Pub - but it's not. It's a college town sports bar and grill with Irish flavored decor.

Now - that's not to say that it's bad; it's just not exactly what it presents itself as.

Underneath the Blarney is what USED to be the Dinkytowner.  The Dinkytowner used to be one of the best places in the Twin Cities to catch live music from local and national artists. Unfortunately they were forced to close because they weren't able to meet a city ordinance about ventilation. Boo.

I had a "poor man's black velvet" - but she didn't pour it very well.  Too heavy on the cider, not enough Guinness. But I'm a beer snob so - take what you will from my assessment.

They DO have a pretty great selection of beer on tap, including one of my favorites - Bell's Two Hearted Ale. Very hoppy! Bitey, even!

As you can see, they have a bit of a rustic, wooden pub decor that one might mistake as "Irish" if they'd been sucking on laughing gas for a few hours.  But in reality, it's a sports bar - albeit, one of the coolest ones around.  How many sports bar have such high-quality wood furniture?  Ad the "barrel tables" - those are actually pretty cool! You'd never see these in Ireland, but - whatever.

One last note - the food here is really quite good. I'm a big fan of their wraps...
